On exteriors we prime all raw wood areas with XIM PealBond primer then back roll with paint prior to spraying, or we use an exterior alkyd based primer prior to application of finish coat.

This includes caulking of cracks using a 45-55 year caulk and spackling of small holes If pictures or wall hangings are to be installed in same location, nails or hangers can be left in place and painted over.
