The homeowner had tongue and groove wood ceilings that had been beat up over the years from what I like to call, "beach grease".
The existing coating had almost completely wore off leaving the surface of the wood unprotected and vulnerable.
As a painting contractor in Melbourne and living in Indialantic myself, this is not an uncommon sight.
The wood had begun to literally crumble away in some spots, and had not actions been taken it would of continued course and eventually completely rotted away.
