John's first painting experience was in the summer of 1968 working as a school custodian.
His boss that summer was a retired house painter, who came from a long line of painters.
That first summer of painting, he learned a lot about proper prep work and "doing the job right the first time".
In those days all the good paints were oil based and you actually had to burn the old paint from the pots in order to use them again.
While the products today have changed, acrylic latex paints are the best paints today, it is still true that the foundation of a great paint job is in the diligent preparation of the surface to be coated.
