Romeo and Jeannine Letendre immigrated to the United States from French speaking Quebec in 1946.
Romeo joined the painter's union that same year.
Both Romeo and Jeannine spoke little English and their first priority was to the learn the language.
Romeo started his own business in 1950 and worked hard to build his business so that Jeannine could stay home to raise their four children.
The money he earned provided the young couple with a new home in Springfield and the support he needed for his bride and children.
