Vincent Charles Blackwell was born in Chalfonte, England.
He moved to Wilmington, Delaware along with Hans Seaburg and opened a general painting company in 1908 on Orange Street, known as Seaburg & Blackwell.
In 1932, Hugh Vincent Blackwell, son of Vincent Charles Blackwell, joined the firm.
During the depression 1929-1939, Blackwell & Son Inc. was awarded the contracts to paint the new duPont titanium plant in Edgemoor, Delaware.
