Services
Since being founded in 1994 as a husband and wife team, Jay's Painting and Pressure Cleaning, Inc. has specialized in providing interior and exterior painting services in Yorktown and the Virginia Peninsula.
Our attention to detail and our commitment to satisfying customers has helped us to grow to a small team of employees that are dedicated to providing outstanding workmanship.
We are proud of our team and the reputation we have built.
We believe our thoroughness, professionalism, and our open communication with our customers provide a level of service that other contractors cannot match.
At Jay's Painting, we use low pressure to gently shower a cleansing solution on everything from the foundation to the roof line and rinse with water to remove unsightly mold, mildew, and dirt.
Our soft wash method does not damage your home.
We can safely clean houses, wood and composite decks and fences, brick, paver patios, and concrete walkways and driveways.
When cleaning surfaces like patios, sidewalks, and driveways, we use a cleaning/brightening solution and a premium, four nozzle surface cleaner to evenly clean the surface.
Although wood is the most common material used for exterior trim work, it does have several downsides.
Wood trim is susceptible to water damage and rot, particularly on raw edges and ends that can't be painted after installation (like where two boards meet) or where they are in contact with the roof.
Inside and outside corners of gutters can also be problem spots if there is a leak in the gutter.
The photo below highlights some of the areas where we find rot most often.
Rot will occur anywhere water can get to exposed wood.
Small areas of dirty looking sawdust on the siding right underneath trim boards and holes in trim boards are the calling cards of carpenter bees.
The excerpt below is from an article published by the University of Kentucky and explains why carpenter bees are boring into your house.
Fertilized female carpenter bees bore into wood, excavating a tunnel to lay their eggs.
The entrance hole in the wood surface is perfectly round and about the diameter of your little finger.
Coarse sawdust may be present below the opening, and tunneling sounds are sometimes heard within the wood.
Staining your deck or fence is one of the best ways to improve the look of your deck.
It also protects the wood from the sun and exposure to moisture and humidity.
Proper maintenance can prolong the lifespan of your deck, preventing deck boards from rotting, splitting, or otherwise failing.
Next to power washing, staining is also the best, fastest way to improve the look of your deck.
Unfortunately, it's easy for homeowners to damage their decks with pressure washers, to stain over already-rotted wood, or to apply the stain before a deck is sufficiently dry.
