The company was founded in 1949 by Herbert M. Statz. It was originally named Statz & Harrop Painting and focused solely on residential painting. By the mid 70's the company expanded into steel stud framing and drywall installation.
The first large commercial project that was completed as a steel stud and drywall contractor was West and East Towne Malls in Madison, WI. In 1996, the company split the painting and steel studs divisions. Statz Painting & Decorating started under the vision and leadership of Larry G Statz and Michael Statz, concentrating solely on the painting and decorating end.
The company's main focus is commercial and residential painting, wall covering, floor finishing, and residential drywall, taping and finishing. Statz Painting is a union sub-contractor and employs 40-45 employees.
